The Sounding Board Sessions
The Sounding Board Sessions
My dad spent the early part of his career designing speakers for Bowers & Wilkins. As a child, I always wondered why the finest speakers came in wooden boxes — when everything else in the world seemed to be getting sleeker, smaller, more synthetic.
He explained it to me once. It's because of the sounding board.
The wood doesn't add sound. It doesn't change what's already there or impose something new on top of it. It resonates — taking what exists and giving it the space to become clearer, fuller, more itself. The quality was always in the sound. The sounding board just lets you hear it properly.
I've thought about that a lot in my work.
The people I sit with aren't short of thinking. They're not lacking ideas, or intelligence, or instinct. What they're often missing is somewhere to put it — someone who can hold the space while their own clarity finds its shape.
That's what a Sounding Board Session is.
Bring one thing.
The decision you're circling.
The conversation you keep putting off.
The idea you can't quite see clearly yet.
One hour. One thing. No agenda except yours.
